Situated at 55 ViadelleCarrozze, the Rome 55 luxury guest house is literally opposite the famous Spanish Steps located in Piazza di Spagna.

Piazza di Spagna

Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous squares in Rome and derives its name from the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See which is located here.

Trinita' dei Monti

The Spanish Steps are actually the stairs that lead from Piazza di Spagna up to the church of the Trinita’ dei Monti.  Perennially the meeting point of Romans for generations, the Spanish Steps is ever a vibrant and energetic scene, which in the summer burst forth visually in colourfulflowers that adorn the steps.  It is thus no surprise that the English Romantic poet John Keats lived at the foot of the steps, and indeed now his house has been converted into a museum of Keats and his close friend & writer Percy Shelley who both used to marvel and observe the charming Italian characters that frequent this area.

At the very foot of the Spanish Steps lies the famous Fontana delleBarcaccia which was sculpted by perhaps the baroque period’s most famous sculptor – Bernini.  Also in the square lies the building of Propaganda Fide one of the most important places of power of the Catholic Church, and indeed the links of this square with the Church is most evident on the 8th December – the feast of the Immaculate Conception – when the pope visits to lay a wreath at the foot of the grand statue of the Immaculata that also resides in Piazza di Spagna.

Dream Shopping

The entire area around Piazza di Spagna is a dream for shoppers dedicated to following the latest fashions.  Via Condotti is just steps away and is home to the very best fashion designer brands including Dolce &Gabbana, Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Armani, Burberry, Mont Blanc, Louis Vuitton, Chanel , Missoni, Sergio Rossi, PatriziaPepe, Hermes, Pinko, Ferragamo, and Prada to name but a few.

For more mainstream shopping, Via del Corso lies just a 2 minute walk away with more affordable brands and style at your fingertips.  This street runs from Piazza Venezia (close to the Imperial Roman Forum and the Coliseum) up to Piazza del Popolo and guests can therefore also marvel at art and architecture at the end of their shopping spree.

Villa Borghese also lies at Piazza del Popolo and this huge green park is breathtakingly tranquil and cultured with all manner of statuary, fountains, walks, museums and art galleries inside.

Of course Piazza di Spagna also boasts an underground metro station meaning that guests to the Rome 55 guest house can be at all of the city’s major tourist attractions within minutes including the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel (just 3 stops away), the Trevi Fountain (a short walk or 1 stop away), the Basilica of St Mary Major (4 stops away) and the Basilica of St John Lateran (6 stops away).
